Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born into an ethnically mixed family. Both her parents were both English. She was raised in a south London council estate, and went to The Brit School at age fourteen. She graduated with a BA in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While at the academy, she performed in numerous stage productions such as the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting journey began with Storm Damage. In the years since, she's made guest appearances for Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film role was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), alongside Colin Farrell. After this success, Madekwe was cast as Elisha on her role on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured in six episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. Also, the ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl saw her in 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe was the main character on How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others. The comedy released in 2008. Some of her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009 with the thriller The Beautiful Life. The drama aired for just two episodes before being removed from The CW. The actress was selected in February 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was announced in May 2013. After a period of two years as a main character, she appeared as a guest in the opening episode of season three. From 2014 to the year 2016, she appeared on Salem in the role of Tituba. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. They've collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he was also on the show with Madekwe on the TV show Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress who was twice nominated for a Gemini Award, is a member of an extensive Hamilton family. Her parents were Roy and Patty along with her older brothers: Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers, who were each of them extremely active, took part in hockey during the winter and baseball during the summer months, which means that she grew up playing in parks and arenas. Ashley didn't walk, instead she was a dancer. At age two and half, she found Baby Ballet. Ashley discovered a love for dancing after she started the Baby Ballet. Ashley was a competitor in tap, jazz and ballet at the top divisions. Ashley was awarded the best soloist awards at all of the main dance contests, including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
